Flat Earth Blog, Vol. 4

The stage is set. Literally. After some long hours busting pallets, pulling nails, gluing, hammering, leveling, and other carpenter-ing. We have a stage in our back yard! Here are some pictures:

Those of you who have been following along already know how much we’ve wanted to use our home as a venue for our Flat Earth Band vision of “reaching out to the whole earth with the gospel of Jesus Christ through music and other art forms”. Music, good news (gospel), and community. We are excited to see how the God of the universe sees fit to use this construction of pallets in middle America for His glory.

It was our sincere pleasure to inaugurate this new outdoor venue with a benefit concert in support of the Sierra Wilder Memorial Fund. Sierra was a great friend to many, including our daughter Emily. The following paragraph is taken from this week’s Nashville News about the event:

On Friday, August 12, a concert was held to benefit the Sierra Wilder Memorial Fund. The event raised $400 for Sierra’s Little Ray of Sunshine, to be used in the children’s area at the Nashville Public Library. 67 people enjoyed music by Emily Detering and Levi Evans at this benefit event, held in Deterings’ backyard on North Mill Street. A stage was built off the back of the carriage house, a few lights were strung, candles lit and flowers picked.

That’s all for now, but there is certainly more to follow. (Including the recent development that Mitch McVicker will be returning on October 2nd! More about that in the days to come.)

Sincerely,

FEB
